Scottburgh High Young Scientists Excel at the Southern KZN Regional Science Expo

Scottburgh High School has once again excelled at the Southern KZN Regional Science Expo with thirteen of its fifteen learners who were selected for this expo being awarded medals.   The expo which took place at the Umzinto Town Hall on the 16th of August 2018 attracted approximately 300 projects from as far south as Port Shepstone and as far inland as Ixopo.

Bronze medals:

Silver medals:

  • Sarishka Amichund,
  • Yusuf Moosa,
  • Kyle Pillay
  • Caitlin Willis

Gold medals:

  • Saranya Govender
  • Rayde Kruger
  • Khilona Piyarlall
  • Natalie Nortjie.

Best Innovative Science and Technology Project award:

  • Khilona Piyarlall

Best Overall Female Project:

  • Natalie Nortjie

The ultimate achievement at this level is to be selected for the International Science Fair which takes place in Gauteng early in October 2018.  From the Southern KZN Region sixteen learners were chosen and four of these learners came from Scottburgh High School. They are:

Saranya Govender, Natalie Nortjie, Khilona Piyarlall   and Rayde Kruger.

The staff, Governing Body, and pupils wish the four learners chosen for the International Science Fair the very best as they will be competing against the best learners in private and public schools from our own country as well as other countries.
