2018 Matric Prize-Giving

The 2018 Matric Prize-Giving was held on Friday 19 with Guest Speaker ( and Ex-student): Julia Van Zyl who presented Special awards to the following pupils:

The Olivier trophy for the most valuable contributions to public speaking:  TIA TOMMY

The Rotary Club of Scottburgh award for Altruistic service to the school :  NICOLE BEER

The Walker trophy for special recognition :   RUSSTEN HORSMAN

The Denis Soldat trophy for academic progress in her final year:   MEGAN LEWIS

The Bartman trophy awarded by the Head prefects to the prefect of the year:  NICOLE BEER

The Todeschini Fellowship award for girls: awarded to a pupil who has shown good fellowship to staff,, pupils and the community throughout her school career:    EDEN PILLAY

The Todeschini Fellowship award for boys: Awarded to a pupil who has shown good fellowship to staff, pupils and the community throughout his school career RAHUL SIGH

The Tomlinson trophy awarded to a pupil who in the opinion of the Headmaster and Staff, has an Oustanding personality and has promoted all aspects of school life :  TIA TOMMY

The Bell trophy: awarded to a pupil who, in the opinion of the Headmaster and Staff, achieved Academically and in the co-curricular programme. This would normally imply a pupil who has colours award for his or her co-curricular achievement:   ASHRAF MOOSA

The Headmaster’s Shield: awarded to a pupil who in the opinion of the Headmaster and Staff, has shown all the qualities of Leadership, Loyalty and Service to the school:  HENCO VAN WYK

The Pioneer Trophy: was donated by Mr G. Logan in memory of C.G. Johnson the first Lighthouse keeper at Scottburgh and Clansthal (1892-1914) and of other pioneers of the area. It is presented to the pupil who shows Outstanding Leadership, Loyalty and Service:  TIA TOMMY

Maths Olympiad: for being placed in the top 100 in the country for the South African Maths Foundation Olympiad:

  • SAMISHKA AMICHUND
  • MARK LALOO

Science Olympiad: for being placed in the top 25 in the South African Physics Olympiad:

  • ASHRAF MOOSA
  • MARK LALOO

Colours Awards for Academics in 2018:                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Merit:

  • MEGHAN LEWIS
  • BAVUMILE BOHLELA
  • BHAVIK NUNKOO

3rd in Grade: Prize sponsored by Investec, this pupils also awarded full colours for academics:  MARK LALOO

Proximae Accessit: the prize is sponsored by Dorothy’s Florist and the trophy was donated by the Howlett Family. The recipient is also awarded Honours for academics:  SAMISHKA AMICHUND

Dux of the School: The prize is sponsored by The Lions Club of Scottuburgh , to the Matric pupil who gained the highest marks and also reawarded Honours for Academics:  ASHRAF MOOSA
